Source 4. Robert Kinsmans Will dated: 24 Aug 1710 & proved 12 March 1712/13; In the name of god, Amen. I Robert Kinsman, Senr. of Ipswich in ye County of Essex in New England, glazier, being aged, & not knowing how soon it may please God to take mee out this world, yet thro Gods Goodness of perfect mind & memory, & being willing to settle yt small estate yt I have not yet disposed off by deed of gift to my two sons, Joseph & Robert, & my grandsons, ye sons of my son Thomas Kinsman Decd, I make & ordaine this & no other to be my Last Will & testament, & dispose of my person & estate in manner & fforme, following. I give & comend my soul to god, who gave it mee, hopeing & believing ye thro ye mererits of Christ Jesus my blessed Savior, to obtaine a gorious resurrection to Life Eternall, and my Body to be Decently buryed att ye Discretion of my Executors & overseers hereafter named. As to my outward estate, I will yt all my just & honest Debts & funerall charges be payd & Discharged by my Executors hereafter named in convenient time after my Decease. I give to my two sons Joseph & Robert Kinsman, all my Glazeing tools, husbandry, and Carpenter Tools, of all sorts, to be equally divided between them. I also give them my ffowling peice, & all with what they already have had by deed, to be their portion, and they, equally to pay all my debts & funerall expences. i give to my duaghter, Sarah Perkins, who stayed longest with me, my bed in ye great chamber, with all ye furniture belonging to it. I give to my daughter, Unice Burnham, my chest of draws. I give to my five daughters, mary, Sarah Joanna, Margarett & Unice, all my moveable estate of household goods & debts ye shall be due att my decease, and all my quick stock of all sorts & kinds whatsoever, as cattle, sheep, & horse kind, except what I hereafter in this my will, shall be disposed of, & also my crane, tarmells & hooks, equally to be divided among them five. i give to my son Pelaitiah, but ten shillings beside what I have given him already. Item. I give unto my maid Eliz Dingey, five good sheep if shee abide with mee till my doccasc, otherwise I give her but three good sheep. Item. In consideration, my son Joseph Kinsman haveing had many priviledges & advantages which my son Robert hath not had, I see cause to give him no more, but I give my son Robert twenty pounds out of what he was to pay after my deccease, & to be deducted from his sisters equally. Item. I constitute, ordaine & appoint my said towo sons Joseph & Robert Kinsman to be joynt executors, to this my Last will & Testament & I desire my well respected ffriends, Deacon Nathll Knowlton, & Daniel Rogers of Ipswich, to be Overseers, to see this my will fulfilled. In confirmation that this is my last Will & Testament, I ye above said Robert Kinsman, Doe hereunto sett my hand & seale, this twenty fourth day of August, Anno Dom. 1710, in ye ninth of her Mafesties Reigne Anne of Great Brittaine, & Queen. Robert Kinsman & Mary Boreman may have had a son named Tobijah, but he is not mentioned in his fathers will, nor does he have a complete birthdate as do the other children, therefore, I have removed him from my family group sheet as Nov. 2005;
Robert Kinsman came into full communion with the church in Ipswich, 22 Feb 1673;
He was admitted Freeman, 11 March 1673/74;
Chosen Selectman 1675; Tithingman 1677;
He took Oath of Allegiance 11 Dec 1768;
Quartermaster 1 Jan 1684;
He was one of the six men renowned in the history of Ipswich, who, on Aug. 27, 1687, voted that Andros had no right to tax the people without the consent of the Assembly, for which vote they were fined & imprisioned twenty one days by Andros.
He had the trade of a glazier.
The Kinsman name is also spelled Kingsman in some records.
